Up until very recently, I used the ‘alarmed’ app for all of my reminders. It was built by a tiny little one-person development company, and I loved it because of its nagging features – I could set pre-alarms for all of my meetings and reminders, and then when the time came, it would nag me several times (once every 5 minutes) until I marked that task as done.
For someone who previously missed calls and Zooms because she gets distracted, or makes a cup of tea and then forgets about it when it’s ready, this feature was an absolute godsend.
Cue 2026, and the Alarmed app didn’t sync or connect with any other tool or software, and this was really starting to bother me.. so I got ChatGPT on the case, and it quickly came up with TickTick at the top of its list of replacements.
My two main criteria were the ability to nag and snooze reminders, and to be able to connect to n8n.
This simple change of software tool has allowed me to automate a variety of to-dos, including my call and Zoom bookings from Calendly. And once the TickTick automation was working, I then went and added the ServiceM8 booking part too, which creates a new, or updates an existing, job card and then puts the booking into my ServiceM8 Schedule.
So this brilliant n8n workflow shown below now takes all Calendly bookings, adds them as a reminder / task in TickTick and then schedules them into ServiceM8 for myself and my ‘Booked Calls’ staff member to ensure that I never miss a call or meeting again 🙂

Next, I just have to work out how to link it up to my kettle…
Are you already using n8n? I’d love to hear what you’re automating – or what you wish you could automate.
Whether you use ServiceM8, run a trade business, or simply want to save time on repetitive admin, ask me about ready-made and custom n8n workflows. Drop a comment or send me a message and I’ll help you work out what’s possible.
