It can be tricky to know when to use which feature in ServiceM8, so here’s a quick tip for when to use a ServiceM8 Form, vs when to use a ServiceM8 Service:
Use a ServiceM8 Form when you want:
- a finished PDF / report
- a linear set of questions
- to capture any signatures in person or remotely (technician or customer)
Use a ServiceM8 Service when:
- you need answers to questions to actually do stuff on the job card – i.e.
- create a checklist of items (think parts / tools / things to do)
- add pricing ( and quantities of those items )
- note! you can’t add bundles to services
- when you want to include answers to questions elsewhere – i.e.
- your quote, work order and invoice templates
- emails
- you want to update the answers at different stages of the job
- you can add progress information, or you can have questions like ‘have you organised the tiler to visit = yes / no)
FYI
You can still create a document (PDF) when using services, but you have to either use a form to generate the document, or use a document template such as a quote template, work order template or invoice template.
Do you use ServiceM8 Forms and / or Services in your business?
