#TipTuesday – Set up 5 year reminders with a 58 month follow up badge
If you’re an electrician, you’ll be wanting to remind your customers that their next EICR or PAT test needs to be done 5 years after the last check.
ServiceM8 only offers the recurring job follow up badges (the ribbon-shaped badges) for up to a 1 year reminder for you and your team.
However, this doesn’t stop you from setting up a 5 year reminder for your customer.
- To do this, you’ll want the automation and badges add-ons switched on – if you don’t see these options when you go to settings, just head over to ServiceM8 Add-ons and switch them on.
- Then go to settings and click on automations
- Click the New Automation button
- Select Badge Follow Up from the list of Automation types
- Choose the Follow up via email option, and enter a badge name of 5Year. You can only send email reminders if the follow up wait time is more than 12 months.
- Choose how long to wait before sending a follow up message. By setting this to 58 months, your customer will get their reminder 2 months before the next visit is due. You could change this to 59 months, if you want them to get the reminder 1 month before.
- Write the follow up message that’ll be sent to your customer. You might want to include information about why they should continue to use your company’s services, the importance of regular electrical testing, the consequences if they don’t get their property inspected regularly, and other ways to book. If you’re using the Services Add-On to create online booking pages, you can include a link for them to book their own appointment in without calling or emailing you.
- Review your settings
- Each Badge Follow Up Automation will create a unique badge in your account called 5Year.
- Simply apply the badge to a job (either before you mark the job as completed, or even better, add it to a job template for your EICR and PAT jobs), and the follow up message will be scheduled for 58 months after job completion.
There you have a way to create a 5 year reminder system with ServiceM8.
