I created and published an automation that can publish social posts direct from notion to my social accounts, checking my notion database EVERY 15 MINUTES.
I published it and didn’t think anything more of it. I’d not created an error notification workflow, so it was just happily executing every 15 minutes, for weeks. Then, on a random Tuesday morning, my colleague told me he thought one of the automations hadn’t done it’s thing – I logged into n8n to find a message saying that I’d maxed out my plan and needed to upgrade ☹️
So – lesson – if you publish something that runs at intervals, check that it’s a reasonable interval for the task frequency – for my socials workflow, once or twice a day would have been enough.
Second lesson – get an error notification workflow in place before you publish anything, so that n8n can tell you if one of your workflows errors and stops.
Third lesson – login and check your n8n account once a week or once a month just to have a look around and make sure everything is working as you want it.
Are you already using n8n? I’d love to hear what you’re automating – or what you wish you could automate.
Whether you use ServiceM8, run a trade business, or simply want to save time on repetitive admin, ask me about ready-made and custom n8n workflows. Drop a comment or send me a message and I’ll help you work out what’s possible.
